Semax Peptide: Cognition, Focus and Neuroprotection Research

This article describes published research, not personal treatment or dosing advice. Experimental compounds may not be approved for human use.

What is Semax?

Semax is a synthetic peptide derived from a fragment of ACTH, studied primarily for neurological and neurotrophic effects.

What does human research show?

A published study of 110 people after ischaemic stroke examined Semax alongside rehabilitation and reported changes in BDNF and functional outcomes. Stroke rehabilitation research is not evidence that Semax boosts focus in healthy people.

What is BDNF?

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a protein involved in neuronal survival and plasticity. Changes in BDNF are a research endpoint, not proof of everyday cognitive enhancement.

Semax versus Selank

Semax has a neurological research emphasis, whereas Selank has been examined for anxiety and stress responses.

Is Semax an established nootropic?

No high-quality body of evidence establishes its safety and effectiveness as a cognitive enhancer in healthy adults.
